My Choice For President

I usually don't talk politics,
but recently I saw a T-Shirt at The Big E
that really says how I feel about this upcoming election....
And as we were walking the fair,
I bumped right into my choice for President!!!
Did you know that Abe and Brown & Hopkins
will both be turning 200 years old in 2009???

Gee, Abe you look good for your age!!!
Abe had some great quotes,
and we have quite a few of his reproduced

Pumpkin Spice Spread

Pumpkin Spice Spread is a delightfully different,
easy to prepare spread that gives you a wonderful
burst of fall flavor all year long!

Even people who say they don't like pumpkin love it!

We serve little teddy graham crackers with it when we sample it at the store, but it is also wonderful on toast or bagels, with pretzels or ginger snap cookies and even apple slices.

More Candy Faces!

Friends Tiffany and Kacie were recently spotted hanging out at the Brown & Hopkins candy counter.

And they enjoyed sniffing the candles too!!!

We induct them into the GLBHS society!

Can anyone guess what that is????

I'll give you a moment or two to try!

Enjoy your day!

I Have Been Tagged!!!!

I have been tagged by my friend Dana and the rules to this are that you have to tell six things about yourself and then "tag" six more bloggers so they do the same and pass it on. So here goes:
1) My absolute favorite season is Autumn! I love the colors, the scents, and the weather! I almost wish it could be Autumn all year long!
2) I always wanted to be a singer.....and more than one that just sings in the car, so occasionally I go out and do karaoke (I recently won first place in a local contest singing Bonnie Raitt's "Something To Talk About").
3) I drive a practical mini-van, but really see myself in a sixties muscle car like an Olds 442......or a Camaro....or a Chevelle.....ok, you get the picture! ( Black with white stripes on the hood would be pretty!)
4) One of my first jobs was waitressing at Chelo's in Cumberland. I recall on my first night of working the counter, spilling a Coke on a uniformed Cumberland police officer....OOPS!
5) I love lobster salad, and if I could afford to, I would eat it once every week!
6) I play baseball with Kevin and Sam(my two sons) and Bruce every now and then.....and I hit pretty good for a girl! (But my throwing is another story! )
I know I am supposed to tag 6 other bloggers, but I invite all bloggers that wish to be tagged, to tag themselves by making a comment on our blog! I can't wait to see who joins the fun!!!!

Just A Comment About Comments....

I wanted to take this opportunity
to chat with you about making comments
on the Brown & Hopkins blog.....

I LOVE it when I see comments!!!!!
Anyone can make a comment!
Yes, that's correct....YOU can just click on "comments"
and this computer thingy will take you to the comments page!

You don't need any special permission
or an invitation or a contest,
so if you are inspired by a
particular post, or amused by a photo, please.........

post a comment!
I know that the gals whose homes have been featured in our home shoots
would love a comment or two as well!
Can you believe that we have had over 13,000 "hits"
on our blog since it began??
So, I know you are reading it!
I love it when you run into the store
to request the latest recipe ingredient!
Again, I know you have read the blog!
And that makes it all worthwhile!

You inspire us!
Your comments,
whether in person in the store,
or on the blog, motivate us to keep going!

Thanks for listening......and
P.S. I'm all ears!

Beautiful Butterflies

If you are looking for a unique gift,
look no further than the new handmade sterling silver pendants
created from butterfly wings.

No butterflies are harmed, as they come from tropical butterfly farms within the rain forest and are gathered only after they die naturally.

This is a rain forest "sustainable use" activity that helps preserve wild butterfly populations; provides needed income for farmers, and helps save rain forests by giving them economic viability without being cut down.

I love the blue morpho (shown above) and the sunset butterfly......just gorgeous. Each one is like a piece of artwork!

If You Rest...You Rust!!!

I saw these lovely ladies from the Red Society giggling over our funny vintage magnets and just had to snap their photo!
Just then, one of them spotted me and said, "Ooh, ooh, we're going to get our picture taken!"
Which surprised me, as most folks don't want their photo taken!
So I took another photo!
And another!!!!
These ladies were having a great time at our Autumn Gathering, which ends Sunday at 5pm... Their motto should be "If you rest, you rust!", and they all looked very vibrant, so I don't think they rest much!
They bought some delicious sugar free blueberry spread by Stonewall Kitchen and lots of other country goods!

Fall Home Photo Shoot

It's back to school time, and with that comes our favorite time of year!
Recently we were invited to the Attleboro, MA home of
Steve and Dawn G.!
They were so hospitable, offering coffee and homemade zucchini bread upon our arrival....although, by the time our GPS thingamagig got us lost, I could have used a shot of whiskey in that coffee....: )
But it all turned out well after Dawn got us on the right road!
And what a beautiful, picture perfect home!
Dawn incorporates alot of vintage photos and memorabilia from her ancestors....
Be sure to check out the old Halloween photo and the framed antique wedding gloves.
You'll also notice that we took a close up pic of a bird which was hand carved by Dawn's Dad,
Ray Tameo. It was exquisite! If you would like to check out more of his work, there is an upcoming bird and wildlife woodcarving show in Bristol, RI on October 18th hosted by The Audubon Society.

Here is the link to Steve and Dawns' home.....enjoy the show!http://www.photoshow.com/watch/KW5SB4vf
If you would like your home featured in a
Brown & Hopkins Photo Shoot,
drop us an email......
Not only will you receive lots of compliments,
you'll also receive a $50 gift certificate
towards any purchase of $100 or more at Brown & Hopkins!
